Summer Cocktail Hour: La Croix - The Everyday Mixer
Our love for cocktails is matched by our love for La Croix, the mixer that never fails. We keep the office stocked as the sparkling water is crisp, clean, and refreshing--all of the characteristics we look for in a good summer cocktail. These drinks are meant to be enjoyed in the sunshine, so they are easy to make, highly sippable, and not too boozy.
With La Croix, the possibilities are endless. In this case, we chose two of our favorites: Lime and Pamplemousse (grapefruit). For our spirits, we chose Hendrick's, 'cause classy girls drink gin.
Cocktail 1: Gin Mule
This cocktail packs a punch. It is highly refreshing, and is perfectly balanced between tart citrus and spicy ginger.
Ingredients: 1.5oz Hendrick's Gin, 3oz Lime La Croix, 1/2T peeled and chopped ginger, 1oz fresh lime juice, mint.
Step 1: Muddle the ginger and a few mint leaves, cover with ice.
Step 2: Pour in fresh lime juice and Hendrick's Gin.
Step 3: Top with Lime La Croix. Stir, and garnish with fresh mint and a lime wedge. Sip, smile, repeat.
Cocktail 2: Pamplemousse Fizz
This cocktail tickles the nose. The bubbles make it fun, and we love the bitter notes from the grapefruit.
Ingredients: 1oz Hendrick's Gin, 2oz Pamplemousse La Croix, 1oz grapefruit juice, champagne, rosemary.
Step 1: Combine gin, La Croix, and grapefruit juice.
Step 2: Pop a bottle and let the fizz settle. Top off the cocktail.
Step 3: Activate a rosemary sprig by rubbing it between your fingers and drop it in. Enjoy at sunset, or even better, at brunch.
We hope you enjoy these simple but refined drinks. The key to a good summer is good times, and these cocktails pair beautifully with sunshine, best friends, and your best LH stack. If gin isn't your beverage of choice, vodka would substitute nicely. Either way, you're in for a treat.
